Tips from walkers at our April 2023 meetup

  • Just do it!
  • Which Camino? > Size of pack
  • Stay at Casa Susi
  • Not too far on first day! Smaller chunks and build up gradually
  • If too much luggage, you can send it on
  • Blister hotspot? > Pharmacy
  • Carry food. Some places do not open on weekends
  • Be prepared to be flexible
  • Keep an eye on arrow > retrace your steps
  • Expect the unexpected
  • Ziplock bag + toilet paper
  • Pilgrim passport > discount on meal
  • Do not eat offal!
  • Keep smiling, especially when you don’t understand
  • Go at your own pace – it’s not a competition
  • Take walking poles. Don’t use them going through villages early in the morning
  • No rustling of plastic bags (in albergue at night)
  • Head torch – no shining in people’s eyes
  • You are a visitor – remember
  • Donativo doesn’t mean free
