Medium walk
A group of 16 walkers joined the medium walk to visit a number of the scenic lookouts around Mount Victoria. The day started off misty and drizzly with little hope of seeing any views. We were however not discouraged and with colourful raingear on set off to Hornes Point.
The pretty views over Kanimbla Valley were hidden behind banks of low cloud but it was still atmospheric. The next viewpoint was Pulpit Rock where misty conditions and drizzle obscured any views. Due to the wet conditions and slippery rocks we decided to skip visiting the Bushrangers cave which would have taken us down a rocky zig zag track.
The final misty viewpoint was Sunset Rock where glimpses of Victoria Pass could be seen through the moving clouds.
A few of the group returned to Mount Victoria Station, while the rest of us continued through the back streets of Mount Victoria. A detour along a bush track added a bit of interest before a climb to the Great Western Highway and back to the Mount Victoria Station.
The 11km walk took us just under 4hrs.

Clean Up Australia Day

This walk was nominated as a “Clean Up” walk to support the Clean Up Australia day held in March each year. Thanks to everyone’s efforts we collected a number of bags of rubbish and left our route litter free.
The walking stick is Rowan’s purchased from Rotary at last November’s BMCS Pilgrim Fair, and is well loved!
Easy walk
A fantastic effort – everyone who registered turned up! We all set off together to Hornes Point via One Tree Hill (highest point in the Blue Mountains at 1111m and Mt Piddington. Unfortunately, views over the Kanimbla Valley were limited.
The easy group of walkers continued on to Sunset Rock, past the polling booth at the primary school. Again, a complete whiteout. We collected rubbish along the route as the group headed to Piccolo Cafe for coffee and then onto Gardiners Inn in Blackheath, the venue for lunch and Camino Meetup.
Easy Group leads: Carlene and Jen
Thanks to Ann for hosting the Camino Meetup at the Gardiners Inn in Blackheath. After round robin introductions, we broke into groups of 2 or 3 to discuss our expectations of the Camino, then one person in each group gave a summary.
An enjoyable day sharing Camino camaraderie. Thank you everyone who joined us and contributed to Clean Up Australia Day. Buen Camino
