Our Central Coast Weekend

Posted on July 13, 2025 by admininstratorr

June 2025

For the third year running we planned to join in the 5 Lands Walk on the Central Coast, but the event was cancelled this year. But in true Camino spirit we decided to push on!

Some of us camped at the Girl Guide campsite in Terrigal, some were billeted by generous local Camino community members and others opted for nearby motels. We all gathered on the Friday night at the local hotel for dinner. A gathering reminiscent of a pilgrim meal in Spain – one enormous long table with folk from all walks of life happy to be sharing a meal together.

On Saturday morning, after battling the crowds in Terrigal for coffee, we headed to Maitland Bay to walk in the gorgeous Bouddi National Park. The tracks led us through ancient angophora forests which opened up to spectacular ocean views. No whales, but what a scenic walk! We then headed to Hardys Bay Club for a post walk lunch. There was time for a stroll around Terrigal or some R&R before gathering at the campsite for a shared BBQ and time around the fire.

On Sunday morning the campers packed up the campsite then we all gathered at Hardys Bay for a walk – up, and up, and up along the Flannel Flower trail onto the Box Head track. Again, a spectacular walk through coastal bushland with views to Pittwater, the Northern Beaches and even Manly’s north head.
Big thanks to Tony and Johann for organising and leading the walks, and to our generous Central Coast billeters Marian and Bernadette.

To the 8 brave campers – WELL DONE!

In total 24 joined us over the weekend for the walks, BBQ and dinner.
We were lucky with the weather – glorious sunshine and cool temperatures. Everyone enjoyed a fun Camino spirited weekend, that in the words of Maria M, ……” left my heart singing”.
