A damp and misty day for the last Camino Training walk of 2024.
44 of us gathered at Katoomba Station for the Easy and Medium walks.
27 walkers left Katoomba Station in light rain. Following suburban roads and local tracks we reached the Grand Cliff Top Walk at Tarpeian Rock, Leura, to enjoy the spectacular views of … fog. While the iconic views of Mt Solitary and beyond didn’t happen, the light misty rain brought the bush, especially the rainforest sections, alive. Heavy rain the day before meant Leura Cascades were in full flow and Bridal Veil Falls were at their spectacular best. Walkers continued on to Echo Point and Katoomba Falls Reserve for what was an enjoyable, leech-free, misty mountain walk.
The Easy group headed down Katoomba Street, finding our way to join the Prince Henry Cliff Walk, with the views into the valley vailed in Mountain Mist we enjoyed the bush track all the way to Echo Point. Stopping for a coffee break then re-joining the Cliff Walk to Katoomba Falls. Returning to Katoomba via road. A damp misty walk, but still very enjoyable.
Following the walks, we gathered at the Family Hotel for an end of year celebratory lunch.
Carlene Martin was given a special thanks as she retires from the BMCS Admin Team. Carlene was presented with a lovely painting and card by our own Bruce Stanley.
Thanks to the walk leaders and sweepers, and to those who contributed to the photos.
